How many times have you read something and thought, dammit, that makes me mad! Or maybe you don't get mad right away; its something that brews over the day and you don't know how annoyed you are until you realise three hours later you are still thinking about that thing you read. Confounding!
I love The Guardian. I read it every week, usually on Saturday morning, in bed, with my coffee. And almost every week I read something that bothers me, moves me, makes me think about things differently, bores me, confuses me... You get the point. One afternoon after reading about "What really lies behind the desire for a 'female Viagra'" (25/06/2010). I had to write to The Guardian. I looked at being a contributor. Who am I kidding? Naomi Wolf? Slavoj Zizek? Simon Tisdall? Have you seen the list of contributors to Comment is free? Nope, I am not in that category. Now look at page 23 - 'Reply'. Thomas Delaney, Dehli, India. Penny Arnold, Lecco, Italy. Wendy Flannery, Brisbane, Australia. Never heard of them? Me neither. I found my niche!
This blog is about getting my Reply into the print edition of The Guardian Weekly. As far as I'm concerned, the chances are slim. So why waste all that time writing something if its just going to be knocked back? That is where this blog comes in. All my replies will be posted here, for the glory of blogdom!
